Obedience Always Leads to Overflow: My Testimony of God’s Financial Provision

An open Bible on a wooden table displays Luke 6:38, surrounded by scattered wheat seeds and several coins. Above the Bible, bold white text reads, “Obedience Always Leads to Overflow,” with a subtitle below saying, “My Testimony of God’s Financial Provision.” The warm lighting and rustic table emphasize a theme of biblical giving and God’s provision.

In the last year, my family has walked through one of the hardest seasons of our lives — yet it has also been one of the most miraculous. I want to share how God took care of every need, from our home taxes to $15,000-a-month cancer medication, and how it all began with one act of obedience to give.

The $3,000 Seed

Before my husband was diagnosed with cancer and had lost his job, the Holy Spirit stirred my heart to give. One of the very first times I was prompted, it was to give the $3,000 I had been saving for our property taxes.

It was the biggest seed I had ever sown. I didn’t understand why, but I knew I had to obey.

Months later, after my husband’s diagnosis, the tax bills started arriving. Worry tried to creep in, and at times it felt suffocating. But I kept declaring God’s Word — that He would never abandon us, and that I didn’t need to be anxious because He promised to take care of us.

I never told anyone what I had given, how much the taxes were, or even that the deadline was approaching. Then one day, I got a notification on my phone — there had been a deposit made into my account for the exact amount I needed: $3,000. Only God could have done that.

The Freezer Miracle

Another time, on the Fourth of July, our deep freezer suddenly stopped working. We lost a good portion of the food we had stored for our family, as well as the freezer itself.

I thanked God for His provision anyway, and I’ll never forget the song He sang over me that day: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” I sang it out loud as I looked for His provision, knowing that even with everything happening, I had continued tithing — and God is not a man that He should lie.

I went to Home Depot without knowing what I’d find, and there it was: an $800 deep freezer marked down to $500. That alone felt like a blessing, but God wasn’t done. He moved on the heart of one of His saints, who then replaced the $500 I had spent on the freezer.

And as if that wasn’t enough, another donation came in — specifically to replace the food that had been lost in the freezer — without me telling a single soul what was needed.

The $15,000-a-Month Blessing

And God’s provision didn’t stop there. My husband’s cancer medication costs $15,000 a month — but we were approved for a grant so that the very company who makes the medication is covering the entire cost.

He is receiving what he needs to get well, and it hasn’t cost us a single cent. Only God could open that door.

The Biblical Principle Behind the Provision

The Word of God is true:

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom” (Luke 6:38).

When we give as the Holy Spirit prompts, we are planting a financial seed that will produce a financial harvest. Obedience to God’s voice in giving is not about losing money — it’s about stepping into the flow of His Kingdom economy, where generosity unlocks provision.

Other promises remind us:

  • “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse… and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it” (Malachi 3:10).

  • “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

My Encouragement to You

If you’ve been feeling God nudge you to give, even when it doesn’t make sense, I encourage you — obey Him. You’re not losing; you’re planting. God’s economy works differently than ours, and when you release what’s in your hand, He can release what’s in His.

It may be a financial seed, it may be your time, or it may be a resource someone else needs — but every seed given in obedience has a harvest attached to it.

A Prayer for You

Heavenly Father, I lift up every person reading this. Thank You for being their faithful Provider. Give them courage to obey when You prompt them to give. Remove the fear of lack and replace it with trust in Your promises. May they see Your goodness and provision in ways that leave no doubt it was You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

If you’ve ever experienced God’s supernatural provision, I’d love for you to share your testimony in the comments. Your story could be the encouragement someone else needs today.
